Dr. Stephen N. Falling earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis and his Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He worked more than 30 years in the research and development of fine, specialty and commodity organic chemicals at Eastman Kodak and Eastman Chemical Company. He served three years in a manufacturing department with responsibility for large-scale, batch production of complex photographic chemicals. Dr. Falling served as team leader of a research and development effort that led to the construction and successful operation of two semi-works facilities that produced reactive intermediates used in the creation of pharmaceutical, agrichemical and specialty products. He is an inventor on 39 U.S. patents and numerous foreign patents and is an author on 13 scientific publications. Dr. Falling played an important role in the development of an industrial process for isolation, purification and analysis of natural beta-carotene from algae. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Organic Reactions Catalysis Society.
